IT'S A GAME OF RUNS
- CofC held ECU without a field goal for nearly 13 minutes (12:50) in the first half to build a double digit lead. White made a 3-pointer just before the first half buzzer sending the Pirates into the locker room facing a mere 10-point deficit, 23-13.
- Charleston scored the first 19 points of the second half to build a 29-point lead, 42-13.
- East Carolina scored 13 unanswered points to cut its deficit to 16, 42-26, with 7:56 to play. It used a 22-4 run to pull within 11, 46-35, but were unable to get the Cougars' lead under double figures.
- College of Charleston answered with seven straight points to push its lead back to 18 with 1:47 to play before posting a 53-35 victory.
- ECU's 35 points were its fewest in a game in the shot clock era (since 1985-86) and its 13 first half points matched the second lowest scoring output in a half during the same time period.
- The loss snapped the Pirates' 19-game non-conference home winning streak and dropped their all-time record against College of Charleston to 1-3.
- East Carolina has held all seven of its opponents at home to less than 40 percent shooting this season.
- Freshman Elijah Hughes made his first appearance since the second game of the season. Hughes had missed the previous eight games with a foot injury.
- Washington recorded his second double-double of the season. He also posted his third five-block game of the season.
- Sheppard scored double figures for the third consecutive game, the longest active streak on the team.
- White was credited with a season-high two blocks, which equaled his career-best.
- It was a tough game for us on the offensive end of the floor. I give Charleston credit. They're a a very good defensive team but I was really pleased [with my team] defensively on that part of the floor. I have no qualms with my team. [We put up] winning numbers on the defensive side of the ball, but the offensive side of the ball it just was a rough night for our three best players. - ECU Head Coach Jeff Lebo
- East Carolina will return to the court Tuesday, Dec. 20, at UNC Wilmington. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Trask Coliseum.
