The East Carolina men's basketball team will open up American Athletic Conference play Wednesday night inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum against the USF Bulls starting at 7 p.m.

The Pirates are 8-5 overall and own a 7-1 record at home this season following a 76-56 win over Presbyterian in their final non-conference game. ECU is led by its trio of double-figure scorers: Caleb White (13.3 ppg), B.J. Tyson (12.7 ppg) and Kentrell Barkley (10.9 ppg). Graduate transfer Andre Washington is the Pirates' leading rebounder with 7.8 per game while adding 8.1 points per contest. ECU enters the game ranked second in conference in field goal and 3-point field goal percent defense, while ranking third in scoring defense.

The Bulls, who are also opening league play, are currently 6-5 after posting an 81-53 win over Delaware in their final non-conference game. Geno Thorpe, who is averaging 13.4 points and 4.1 assists per game, leads them. Tuilio Da Silva (11.2 ppg) and Troy Holston (10.7) are also averaging double digits points.

This will be the 13th meeting between the two schools. USF leads the series 7-5. The last time the two teams met was during the first round of the 2016 American Basketball Championship with the Bulls posting a 71-66 victory.
