Tulane beats East Carolina 100-92 in 3OT

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Tulane did not lead by more than two points until the third overtime when the Green Wave outscored East Carolina, 15-7, and went on to defeat the Pirates, 100-92, Wednesday night.
Tulane senior Louis Dabney took an inbound pass with 14.8 seconds left in regulation, dribbled down the clock and worked his way into the lane to hit a hook shot with 2.4 seconds left to tie it at 71-all. In the first overtime, Dabney was left alone and hit a 3-pointer from the corner to knot it at 78.
In the second OT, Dabney's 3-point play with 28 seconds remaining gave the Green Wave an 85-83 lead. Kentrell Barkley's putback at the 20-second mark tied it at 85 and Tulane missed a long 3 at the buzzer.
Malik Morgan hit five 3-pointers and had a career-high 26 points for Tulane (9-16, 2-10 American).
Prince Williams and B.J. Tyson each scored 25 for East Carolina (10-14, 2-9). Kentrell Barkley added 20 points to give the Pirates their first trio of 20-point scorers in game since 2000.
Barkley also finished with a career-high 14 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.
East Carolina led by 12, 60-48, with 8:52 to play, before Tulane went on a 13-1 run to tie the game at 61-all.
NOTABLES
- It was the first triple overtime game in East Carolina history and longest game since defeating George Washington in four overtimes in 1968
- Prince Williams set a career-high for points with 25. It was his second consecutive 20-point performance and third in the last five games.
- B.J. Tyson posted his eighth 20-point game of the season.
- Kentrell Barkley had a career-high five rebounds.
- Prince Williams and Kentrell Barkley both raised their scoring averages to double figures. Barkley is now averaging 10.3 ppg and Williams is averaging 10.1 ppg.
- East Carolina surrendered 100 points at home for the first time since Jan. 31, 1978 when it allowed 112 points to Old Dominion.
