ECU Swimmers and Divers Earn All-Conference Accolades

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- East Carolina placed a total of 19 swimmers and divers on the 2016 American Athletic All-Conference teams with 49 all-league performances at the 2016 American Swimming & Diving Championships in Houston last weekend.
The Pirates had 12 men and seven women earn all-conference accolades, which were announced by The American on Friday. A swimmer or diver needed to place first, second, or third in an event at the conference championships to earn all-conference status.
The ECU men's team posted 38 all-conference performances, 19 NCAA B qualifying times and broke 10 school records en route to its second consecutive American Athletic Conference title.
A threesome of Pirates: Michael Dugan, Will Hicks and Fran Krznaric each claimed all-conference honors in three individual events. Krznaric won the 200 backstroke and 200 IM, while finishing second in the 100 backstroke. Hicks won gold in the 100 and 200 breaststroke with a third-place finish in the 100 fly, while Dugan placed second in all three of his individual events: 200, 500 and 1650 free.
Boleck De Pawlikowski and Julien Dodu each earned all-conference honors in two events with Shawn Hunter and John Myhre finishing among the top-3 in one event as did divers Zach Duval, Scottie Kent and Matt Mullen.
The seven aforementioned ECU swimmers along with Adam Dear and Trevor Irish each earned all-league status in at least one relay event. Dugan, Dodu, Krznaric and Myhre collected all-conference accolades by teaming up to win the 800 freestyle relay.
Bailie Monahan was the lone Pirate to receive all-conference honors in multiple events on the women's side. She placed third in both the 100 and 200 fly, posting NCAA B qualifying time n each event.
Vendela Norrman won the women's 200 breaststroke to achieve all-conference status with Anastasia Amoiroglou winning bronze in the 50 free for ECU's only other individual top-3 finish.
Amoiroglou, Bridie Burke, Logan Graumann, Monahan, Norrman, Erin Polich and Megan Sellers all received all-conference honors as a relay team member.
The Pirates finished with 11 all-league performances, six NCAA B qualifying times and established five school records during their fifth-place showing.
