
Four ECU Divers Off To Regional Championships In Atlanta

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Four East Carolina divers will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championships this week, March 7-9, at the NCAA Zone B Diving Regional at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta. The women's one-meter and the men's three-meter competition followed by the women's three-meter and men's one-meter Tuesday and platform Wednesday.
"It's going to be an exciting and challenging meet," ECU Head Diving Coach Ryan Hunt said. "They have been working extremely hard the past two weeks and are ready for the challenge."
Junior Ashley Sams is the lone member of the ECU women's diving team to qualify for the regional championships. She earned sixth-place on the three-meter board at The American Swimming and Diving Championships and fifth on the platform.
Three members of the men's team will be competing this week: junior Zach Duvall and sophomore Scottie Kent and Matt Mullen. Kent and Duvall finished second and third, respectively, on the one-meter board at the conference championships with Mullen claiming third on the three-meter board.
There will be 49 ladies and 37 men competing this week with the top-18 each advancing to the national finals.
