April 20, 2016 | Baseball
GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina's Evan Kruczynski has been named to the 60-man midseason Golden Spikes Award Watch List, USA Baseball announced Wednesday afternoon. The left-hander is just the second player in program history named to the watch list joining two-time selection Jeff Hoffman (2013-14).
Kruczynski, one of two American Athletic Conference players on this year's list, was also named to the 2016 College Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher-of-the-Year Watch list, which came out Wednesday afternoon. On the season he has made nine starts posting a 5-0 record with 56 strikeouts in 64.0 innings and has allowed 15 runs (12 earned) on 56 hits while sporting a 1.69 ERA.
The Franklin, Wisc. native earned AAC Honor Roll accolades on April 11 following his eight-inning, 13-strikeout performance at Tulane where he carried a shutout into the ninth frame before the Green Wave walked-off with a win.
Kruczynski, who has eight seven quality starts, has worked into the seventh inning eight times and the eighth frame on three occasions with a season-high 8.1 innings against SE Louisiana in the LeClair Classic. He has registered six or more strikeouts in five outings and has walked one or fewer batters seven times and has not issued a free pass in his last two games (16.0 innings.)
On Wednesday, June 1, USA Baseball will announce the semifinalists for the 2016 Golden Spikes Award. The list of semifinalists will be sent to a voting body consisting of past USA Baseball National Team coaches and press officers, members of the media that follow amateur baseball closely, select professional baseball personnel, current USA Baseball staff and the 38 previous winners of the award, representing a group of more than 200 voters.

On Monday, June 13, USA Baseball will announce the finalists for the award, and fan voting will once again commence that same day. Fan voting for the finalists will end on Saturday, June 25.
