ECU Women Lead After Day One Of Bill Carson Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The third annual Bill Carson Invitational commenced Friday at the Minges Family Field at Bate Foundation Track & Field Facility with six field events. Heading into the final day of competition, the East Carolina women are in first place while the men are fourth.
The women accrued 35 points and lead Troy by eight while the Coastal Carolina men racked up 32 points - 14 more than the second-place Trojans.
Redshirt senior Kayla Padgett won the hammer throw with a mark of 62.57 meters while classmate Raqurra Ishmar took third place with a total of 54.99 meters. Padgett also captured third place in the discus at 48.85 meters and Ishmar tacked on a fifth-place result with a mark of 44.41 meters. Freshman Courtney Traybon represented the Pirates in the javelin and was third - finishing with a toss of 36.00 meters.
On the men's side, senior Adam Manns ended up second in the discus (49.73 meters) while freshman Ryan Davis took fifth at 46.85 meters.
Saturday's ledger of events begins at 11 a.m. with the women's pole vault.
