
No. 24 ECU And UCONN Game One Suspended

STORRS, Conn. - Game one of the three-game American Athletic Conference series between No. 24 East Carolina and UCONN has been suspended due to rain and will resume Saturday, May 7 at 12 Noon (ET).
At the time of the suspension, ECU (27-16-1, 8-6-1) and UCONN (24-19, 8-6) had just completed the sixth inning in a scoreless ball game.
Evan Kruczynski tossed six scoreless frames scattering four hits with a walk and eight strikeouts in his 11th quality start of the season. The lefty registered a strikeout in five of his six frames with multiple punch outs coming in the first, fifth and sixth innings.
Anthony Kay, who was equally effective, allowed five hits over six shutout innings with eight strikeouts. He tallied at least one strikeout in all six of his frames getting multiple strikeouts in the second and fifth stanzas.
Eric Tyler collected two of the Pirates five hits, while Bryce Harman, Travis Watkins and Dwanya Williams-Sutton each added one.
John Toppa has a pair of base knocks for the Huskies, while Tyler Gnseda and Jack Sundberg had one apiece.
Game two of the series will start approximately 40 minutes following the conclusion of game one. Game three of the series is still scheduled for Sunday, May 8 with a first pitch of 12 Noon.
