GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were named College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Teams, as announced by the CSCAA Wednesday.
The awards are in recognition of teams that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2016 spring semester. More than 600 swimming and diving teams across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA divisions were recognized for their achievement.
ECU's men's squad combined for a GPA of 3.06 during the spring semester and were one of 95 Division I men's programs honored, including one of three from the American Athletic Conference. With a cumulative GPA of 3.38, the Pirates' women's team was one of 172 women's programs nationally and one of six from The American to earn the accolade.
East Carolina was one of 92 schools to have both of its men's and women's teams honored.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) – the oldest organization of college coaches in America – is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.Â
