Pirates Tied For 11th At Suspended Rod Myers Invite

DURHAM, N.C. – With two players on the 18th hole, play was suspended due to darkness Saturday at the season-opening Rod Myers Invitational, being held at par-72, 7,154-yard Duke University Golf Club with the East Carolina men's golf team tied for 11th-place.
Each member of the Pirates' lineup completed 36 holes on Saturday, compiling a team total of 27-over-par 603 (297-306), which is one stroke behind No. 22 and three-time American Athletic Conference champion USF. Wake Forest, which still has players out on the course, is the current leader at 18-under-par, 12 shots ahead of second place Liberty,
Tim Conover is the low Pirate after 36 holes, carding identical rounds of 1-over 73 to come in at 2-over 146, tied for 24th-place. Jackson Spires is five strokes behind his teammate, with rounds of 76 and 75 in his first 36 holes, which is tied for 49th.
Freshman Patrick Stephenson carded a 9-over 153 in his ECU debut. Stephenson fired a 1-over 73 in round one before shooting 8-over during the second round. Fellow rookie Blake Taylor and senior Jack Sides each fired a 12-over 156 to round out the Pirates' lineup. Freshman Logan Shuping shot an 11-over 155, playing as an individual.
East Carolina will close out the 54-hole Rod Myers Invitational on Sunday with the final 18 holes.
