Greenville, N.C. – The ECU women's basketball team (6-4) will take on former Conference USA foe UTEP (5-3) at 1:30 p.m., at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center on Sunday. ECU and UTEP have a played nine times, all during ECU's Conference USA days. The two first met Feb. 17, 2006, when the Pirates defeated the Miners in overtime, 77-72, in El Paso, Texas.

The Pirates are led by Thais Oliveira who is averaging 11.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. The senior center is also leading the American Athletic Conference in blocked shots (20) and is tied for first in blocked shots per game (2.0). Dominique Claytor has 10.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Ariyana Williams and Raven Johnson are contributing 9.8 and 6.9 points per game, respectively.

UTEP rides a two-game losing streak into Sunday's matchup after dropping their first two road games of the season. Redshirt senior Tamara Seda leads the team with 15.5 points and 11.1 rebounds per game while junior Najala Howell is adding 13.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

The Miners lead the series 5-4 and have won the last four contests. The Pirates are looking for their first win against UTEP since head coach Heather Macy began her tenure in 2010. The last time the two met, UTEP won, 81-74, on Feb. 22, 2014.
