White Scores Career High To Lead ECU Over UConn On Senior Night

RESULT
East Carolina sent out its senior class on a high note with a 66-62 victory over UConn inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum Wednesday night. The Pirates connected on a season-high 12 3-pointers and held the Huskies to 23.1 percent shooting in the second half to record its first win over UConn since joining The American in 2014-15.

TURNING POINT
After Andre Washington made 1-of-2 free throws and then UConn sophomore Jalen Adams threw the ball out of bounds giving the Pirates possession of the basketball holding a two-point lead, 64-62, with 20 seconds to play. Elijah Hughes then made 1-of-2 free throws for a 3-point lead and Rodney Purvis missed a game-tying attempt and freshman Jeremy Sheppard got the rebound and was fouled. He made the first free throw with 4 seconds remaining to seal the victory before intentionally missing the second.

Senior Caleb White scored a career-high 28 points and buried a career-best 7 three-pointers. He scored 17 first half points, making 4-of-8 3-point attempts prior to halftime. He finished the game 8-of-16 from the field and 7-of-13 outside the arc. His 28 points were the second-most by an ECU player on his senior night.

Kentan Facey posted a double-double with 12 and 11 rebounds, playing all 40 minutes.
