Eighteen ECU Swimmers And Divers Named American All-Conference

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Eighteen East Carolina swimmers and divers earned all-conference accolades following their performances at the 2017 American Athletic Conference Championships in Houston on February 15-18.

The Pirates' all-conference performers include 12 men and six women; totaling 46 top-3 finishes in 23 events. Senior Fran Krznaric and junior John Myhre led the ECU men's team with seven all-conference swims each. Senior Marion Abert recorded three all-conference finishes to lead the Pirate women's squad.

Over the four-day event, ECU won seven individual championships, broke nine school records and had 71 performances that rank in the top-10 in school history. Head coach Rick Kobe was named Men's Swimming and Diving Coach-of-the-Year for the third consecutive season as the Pirates won their third consecutive American Athletic Conference Men's Swimming and Diving title, while the ladies placed fourth.

ECU junior Vendela Norrman has qualified for the NCAA Women's Championship in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke and will be competition in Indianapolis on March 15.

Juniors Matt Mullen and Alicia Roueche will participate in the NCAA Regional Zone Diving Championships in Auburn, Ala. Starting Monday, March 6.
