GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track and field program will tune up for the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships one final time this weekend, heading to Durham for the Duke Invitational. The meet is scheduled to run Friday and Saturday (April 21-22).
Â
Flash Results will provide live results and the meet will be streamed online via ACC Network Extra.
Â
"We are excited to compete again after having a weekend off," head coach Curt Kraft said. "The week off gave us a chance to heal up and get in some great practices. We are going to see some great competition this weekend. It is very important that we go into this weekend and have a good meet and come out healthy."
Â
In its most recent competition at home, both the men and women won the Bill Carson Invitational team titles for the second-straight season. The women set a meet record for team points and the Pirates won 11 events overall as well as producing three meet records.
Â
Sophomore Stefano Migliorati holds the AAC lead in the 800m with his time of 1:49.91 that he set at the Raleigh Relays earlier in the season. Junior Mohogany Baker holds the top spot in the conference in the discus with a mark of 50.03 meters she produced at the Bill Carson Invitational two weeks ago.
Â
As a team, East Carolina finds itself ranked 18th on the men's side in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region while the women check in 10th. Additionally, in the national dual meet rankings, the men are 17th in the South Region and the women are 10th.
Â
"Both teams are competing very well at this point, have great attitudes and are excited to continue the momentum that they have created from the previous weeks," Kraft added. "This is the time of the year as a coaching staff that we look for peak performances."
