WOODBURY, Minn. – ECU freshman Kathryn Carson carded a 5-under par (211) in her first collegiate tournament helping the Pirates to an eighth-place finish at the season-opening Minnesota Invitational. Carson finished tied for 10th after posting rounds of 70, 69 and 72.

"I thought it was a solid start for us and I was really proud of the way we played. We played really well the first 36 holes shooting 6-under par and although we shot 2-over today, I was real pleased we finished the tournament under par. It was a really strong field with all 14 teams ranked in the Top 75 to end last year. We were able to pick up a win over preseason No. 9 Georgia, which is a big win for us. Really excited for how Kathryn played in her first collegiate tournament to shoot 5-under par in a strong field. I was also proud of Carley Cox recording her best finish and shooting 1-under par for the 54 holes." – ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams

Preseason No. 4 Southern Cal (-26) captured the team title with a score of 838.
USC's Muni He and Purdue's Inez Wanamarta claimed co-individual honors shooting 10-under (206).
To go along with its win over No. 9 Georgia (882), ECU also registered a Top 50 win over No. 32 BYU (72).
Carson's three-day score of 211 is tied for the ninth-lowest 54-hole total in program history … She ranked among the tournament leaders in par-3 scoring (t3rd/1-under), eagles (t3rd/one) and par-4 scoring (t5th/4-under).
Cox finished tied for 19th posting a career-low round of 215 (1-under) for her second career Top 20 finish.
Lisa Pettersson's opening round 68 is tied for the 18th-lowest score in Pirate history.
