GREENVILLE, N.C. – Senior Nick Ciaccia won the men's individual title and ECU claimed second place in both the men's and women's races at the Pirate Invitational Friday evening at Overton's Lake Kristi in Grimesland.

Duke won the men's crown with a score of 26 points while Elon captured the women's title in close fashion, scoring 40 points to the Pirates' 50.

Ciaccia ran an 8K time of 24:34.46 which is tied for the 10th fastest in school history. Senior Alex Boseman was fifth in a time of 24:44.21 and junior Dean Abushouk placed 10th with a time of 24:59.

On the women's side, in the absence of ECU's top runner Grace Sullivan, freshman Anna Bristle was the top Pirate finisher as she ran a 6K time of 21:27.16 for a fifth-place result and the 12th-fastest mark in program history. Classmate Abby Yourkavitch followed in 12th place with a time of 22:13.94 and junior Nuria Tillo-Prats notched 14th place, turning in a time of 22:26.28.

The meet was a final tuneup for ECU which will take part in the American Athletic Conference Championships Oct. 25 in New Orleans, La.
