ECU Takes Fourth At Cardinal Cup

ECU Finish: Fourth of 14 teams (303-320-290=903, 39-over par)
Top ECU Individual: Kathryn Carson (t15th, 72-78-73=223)
SIMPSONVILLE, Ky, - Sophomore Kathryn Carson (72-78-73) shot a 7-over par score of 223 at the Cardinal Cup leading the ECU women's golf team to a fourth place finish at the 2018 Cardinal Cup. The two-day, 54-hole event was being held at the par 72, 6,303-yard University of Louisville Golf Club.
The Pirates (21-20) picked up a big win finishing ahead of No. 44 Ole Miss and had three players claim a Top 25 finish or better. Joining Carson atop the leaderboard was junior Dorthea Forbrigd (75-77-73) at 225, a share of 20th and senior Kate Law (79-76-71) at 226 with a share of 22nd. Rounding out the Pirates roster were senior Carley Cox (81-80-73=234) and junior Grace Yatawara (77-79-79=235) finishing tied for 42nd and 50th respectively.
"We had a solid round to close out the event," ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams said. "The conditions weren't the best (cold and wind), but we played well today to move up to fourth place. We need to work on controlling the golf ball on the greens a lot better."
ECU will close out the fall semester on Friday, Oct. 26 when it participates in the Alexa Stirling Women's Invitational at the Atlanta Athletic Club.
