MEDINAH, Ill. – Junior Dorthea Forbrigd (71-74-71) an even-par 216 at the Illini Women's Invitational claiming a share of 25th place to lead the ECU women's golf team. The two-day, 54-hole event was being held at the par 72, 6,159-yard Medinah Country Club.
The Pirates (11-17), who finished 15th with a score of 887 (23-over), posted rounds of 296, 299 and 292. Senior Kate Law shot a 6-over 222 (73-73-75) for a share of 55th place, while classmate Carley Cox carded an 8-over 224 (75-76-73) tying for 66th. Rounding out the Pirates roster were sophomore Kathryn Carson (226/10-over/t74) and junior Siranon Shoomee (231/15-over/t79).
"We really struggled on the greens and our approach shots into the greens," ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams said. "Having not played competitively since the Minnesota event a month ago hurt us, but still we shouldn't have struggled like we did. We have a good team and picked a bad time to not play well because of the strength of team competing this week."
ECU will be back on the course on Saturday, Oct. 20 when it participates in the Cardinal Cup at the University of Louisville Golf Club.
