GREENVILLE, N.C. – Coming off the first loss of the season, the ECU women's basketball team looks to bounce back on Tuesday night when the Pirates travel to take on Charlotte.
Â
ECU (5-1) could not getting anything going on the offensive end during its first road game of the season, falling to William & Mary. Raven Johnson led the team in scoring for the fifth time in six games, finishing with 10 points to go along with a career-best 14 rebounds. Johnson corralled 11 defensive rebounds, the most by a Pirate since I'Tiana Taylor grabbed 11 in Feb. 2016.
Â
Johnson leads the team with a scoring average of 17.5 ppg. Lashonda Monk (14.0 ppg) is the only other Pirate averaging double-figures in scoring. Monk leads the team with 25 steals and her average of 4.17 steals per game leads the American Conference and is tied for seventh in the nation. Monk racked up nine steals against Wake Forest and eight takeaways against William & Mary. As a team, the Pirates force 26.0 turnovers per game, a mark that leads the conference and is tied for eighth in the country.
Â
Charlotte (4-1) is coming off a pair of wins at the Christmas Classic, hosted by Lehigh. The 49ers topped Liberty and Lehigh by two points apiece. Charlotte is led by Jade Phillips, who is averaging 16.0 ppg and 8.0 rebounds. Laia Raventos, who was named to the Preseason All-Conference USA Team, has handed out 28 assists this season, against just 15 turnovers. Jazmin Harris is second on the team with 12.0 ppg and was chosen as C-USA's Rookie of the Week after helping the 49ers start 2-0.
Â
ECU has struggled against Charlotte historically, as the 49ers lead the series 24-10. ECU won last year's matchup 58-55 thanks to 15 points from Necole Hope. The Pirates are just 2-13 all-time in Charlotte, winning in 1983 and 1998. The 49ers have won the last six times ECU has traveled to Charlotte.

Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m., on Saturday afternoon in Halton Arena. Fans can stream the contest here and follow the live stats here.
