PIrates Conclude Fall Slate At Kitty Harrison Invite

Chapel Hill, N.C. – In the final weekend of the fall season, the ECU women's tennis team closed out competition at the Kitty Harrison Invite, hosted by the University of North Carolina.

"Over the weekend, I thought we played hard, battled hard and put ourselves in a position to win matches," said head coach Tom Morris. "We played seven three-set matches and lost six of them in tiebreakers, so that's something we need to work on. Other than that, it was a very good fall for us. We played well, we played hard and had some positive individual results."

A pair of Pirates finished the weekend with 2-1 singles records. Nastja Rettich knocked off Pierina Imparato of Charlotte and Charlotte Madson from William & Mary to finish the fall with a team-best 8-3 singles record. Also going 2-1 over the weekend was Martina Paladini-Jennings, as the freshman from Ruislip, England beat Charlotte's Zoe Radojicic and Virginia's Hunter Blesser to finish the fall with a 6-3 record of her own. Also picking up wins over the weekend was Minette Van Vreden and Alisa Diercksen.

In doubles, Lisa Hofbauer and Diercksen won a pair of matches, with the pairing of Van Vreden and Paladini-Jennings and the duo of Rettich and Hsia Ho Chiao winning one match each. Hofbauer and Diercksen toppled the NC State tandem of Adriana Reami and Amanda Rebol and the William & Mary duo of Deepa Dhore and Charlotte Madson. Diercksen and Hofbauer finished the fall 5-1 as a doubles partnership, the best record of any Pirate duos.

With the conclusion of the fall season, the Pirates will begin preparations for the dual match slate in the spring. A full schedule of matches will be released later this fall.
