
Osina And Stiles Named October Student-Athletes of the Month

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Marek Osina (Swimming and Diving) and Melanie Stiles (Women's Soccer) have been selected the Student-Athletes of the Month for October following an outstanding month athletically.

Osina was undefeated in all events during October, including relays. He set the Minges pool record in the 200 backstroke and captured nine first-place finishes in meets against North Carolina, William & Mary and UNCW. Osina, named American Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week Oct. 9 and 29, owns national top-50 rankings in three events and is the top swimmer in the AAC in three events and No. 2 in a fourth.

Stiles paced the women's soccer team to one of its best seasons in program history as the Pirates' everyday goalkeeper. She was 4-1-1 in October with four shutouts and was tabbed the AAC Goalkeeper of the Week Oct. 29. Stiles backstopped ECU to the semifinals of the AAC Women's Soccer Championship and earned selection to the all-tournament team.

Osina and Stiles have combined for 20 hours of community service during the current academic year.
