Pirates Fall in Pair of Conference Matches

Memphis, Tenn. --- The ECU Women's tennis (10-6, 1-4) fell in two closely contested American Athletic Conference matches this weekend. The Pirates fell to Memphis (9-7, 1-3) on Friday, 4-2. Saturday's match against Tulane went in favor of the Green Wave 4-3.

ECU secured the doubles point in the first match with Memphis with a pair of 6-2 wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. The Tigers would go on to pick up four wins in singles competition. Nastja Rettich defeated Memphis's Clair Sullivan in singles action, 6-2, 7-5.

In the second AAC matchup of the weekend ECU secured three singles victories. No. 53 Celia Ruiz defeated Tulane's Sade Atkinson 7-5, 6-2 at the top solo slot. Lisa Hofbauer knocked off Laura Fabrizi 6-4, 6-1. Nastja Rettich notched her second solo win of the weekend with a 7-6, 6-0 win over Elena Muller
