Women's Tennis Improves Winning Streak to Four in Orlando

Orlando, Fla. --- The ECU Women's tennis (10-4, 1-1) team picked up two victories on Monday at the United States Tennis Association Campus. The Pirates started the final day in Florida with a 7-0 win over Grand Valley State. In the afternoon, the purple and gold defeated Hampton 6-1.

For the second-straight day, ECU's top duo of Lisa Hofbauer and Celia Ruiz started the day with a win, 6-0 over the Lakers No. 1 pair of Aimee Moccia and Allie Sweeny. Meredith Smith and Victoria Dixon would secure the doubles point with a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 position.

Annija Veinstenia secured the Pirates first point in singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Liv Hanover. No. 53 Ruiz defeated GVSU's top-solo player with 6-0, 6-2 score.

In the second match of the day, Alisa Diercksen and Veinsteina notched the team's first win with a 6-1 defeat of Hampton's No. 3 duo of Hayley Mullins and Anastasiia Romanova.

No. 53 Ruiz knocked off Hampton's top singles player, Ciara Walker, 6-0, 6-0. Ruiz Ruiz has now won 7-of-8 matches dating back to Feb. 17. The only match of the eight that the junior didn't win was at UCF, where the match wasn't finished.
