RESULT
ORLANDO, Fla. – B.J. Taylor scored 17 points and A.J. Davis scored 14 and sixth-seeded UCF (19-12) defeated 11^th-seeded ECU (10-20) 66-52 in an American Athletic Conference Championship first round game Thursday night at the Amway Center.

TURNING POINT
UCF went on an 18-1 run over a 6:21 stretch in the second half to pull away. B.J. Tyson hit a 3 to cut the Pirates' 14-point deficit to one, 46-45, with 9:36 to play. Their next basket came with 1:12 remaining in the contest.

ECU PLAYER-OF-THE-GAME
Freshman Shawn Williams scored 17 points and distributed a career-high six assists in 39 minutes of action. Williams was 5-of-13 from the field, including 2-of-5 from outside the arc, and was 5-of-5 at free throw line.

UCF PLAYER-OF-THE-GAME
Taylor scored seven of his 17 points during the game tuning run. He also had four assists and three rebounds in 32 minutes of action.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Pirates finished the game shooting 38.8 percent from the floor and 42.9 percent from behind the 3-point arc … UCF outscored ECU at the free throw line 20-8 and attempted three times as many foul shots (36-12) … The Pirates won the battle of the boards, 34-28, but were outscored in the paint 20-12 … ECU scored 13 points off nine UCF turnovers, while the Knights scored 13 points off 20 Pirate miscues.
