GREENVILLE, N.C.  – The track and field program continues its outdoor season this weekend, heading across the state to Greensboro for the Aggie Invitational. The meet is scheduled for April 13-14 at Aggie Stadium.
Â
The event begins Friday at 5 p.m. with the women's javelin and 100-meter hurdles semifinals and concludes Saturday afternoon with the men's 4x400 relay.
Â
"This is the time of the year that we start looking for some really good marks across the board with both teams," Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Curt Kraft said. "As I've stated many times before, the weather dictates performances in our sport. The weather this weekend should be ideal for all of our athletes."
Â
Last weekend, the men and women defended their home turf and both won the Bill Carson Invitational team titles. The ECU women set a meet record for points, racking up 292 to run away with the crown over second place Charlotte who garnered 156 points. On the men's side, the Pirates were able to hold off Troy by a score of 151.5 to 137. In all, ECU won 15 events and turned in a plethora of top-three finishes across the board.
Â
"Both teams are coming off a great weekend from our home meet last week," Kraft added. "There was a lot of energy and enthusiasm in winning both team titles last week. It's very important that we get better as a team this weekend as we have about a month to go before conference championships."
