
Jake Agnos Named Academic All-District

GREENVILLE, N.C. – ECU sophomore Jake Agnos has been named to the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 First-Team according to an announcement by the organization.

CoSIDA recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The First-Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America honorees will be announced in June.

Agnos, a management information systems major, is a four-time ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll member and 2017 American Athletic Conference All-Academic selection. The Haymarket, Va. native was chosen last fall as The American's representative at the 2017-18 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum, which was held in Washington, D.C. (Nov. 16-19, 2017). A member of ECU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and previous member of the Athletic Leadership Living Learning Community, Agnos boasts a cumulative GPA over 3.9 at ECU.

Since stepping on campus in August of 2016, he has devoted over 100 hours in the community working with programs in the Pitt County area such as the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, Team IMPACT, Riley's Army, Cypress Glenn Retirement Community Flood Relief, Red Cross, First Born Community Development Center, ACES for Autism, Make-A-Wish Foundation and the James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital.

On the diamond, Agnos has appeared in 18 games making 12 starts as a sophomore while posting a 4-3 record. The left-hander has fanned 68 batters, allowed 29 runs (26 earned) on 51 hits in 53.2 innings. He has struck out multiple batters in 17 of his 18 outings (four-plus 11 times) with a season-high eight in four innings against UNC Wilmington. Agnos has notched wins against Charleston, at UCF, at Elon and at then No. 3 Duke. In six relief appearances (9.2 innings) he has not allowed a run and has registered 17 strikeouts and surrendered just five hits.
