Quoting Coach Kraft: "We are very excited about this upcoming regional championship meet. This group of athletes has worked extremely hard to get to this point. All of the athletes who have qualified for this meet will have to perform at a very high level to move on to nationals. The great thing is that we are coming off a great meet at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships last weekend, which will give us great momentum for this weekend. I know one thing for sure. All the athletes are very excited to show that they belong here.

Seniors Galissia Cause and Mohogany Baker enter the regional meet after securing conference titles at the recent AAC Outdoor Championships. The duo claimed gold in the hammer and discus, respectively, in leading the Pirate women to a second-place finish – the squad's best-ever result at the event. On the men's side, senior Stefano Migliorati captured his second-straight outdoor 800-meter AAC championship.
