May 23, 2018 | Women's Basketball
GREENVILLE, N.C. – ECU Head Women's Basketball Coach Heather Macy will be a featured speaker at True North Sports – Camp Elevate on the campus of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Macy is one of 14 individuals selected to speak at the three-day event, May 29-31, and will host a 90-minute session on Emotional Intelligence May 30.
An EQ (Emotional Intelligence) Certified Coach, her presentation is entitled "The Foundation of a Championship Mindset." She will discuss how her knowledge and practice of Emotional Intelligence has changed her as a coach and deepened her connection with members of her staff and student-athletes as well as her personal relationships. She is one of less than 300 coaches in the world with this designation.
Â
Macy will also be speaking at the USA Basketball Coaches Academy at Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia June 2-3 and at Pace Academy in Atlanta Sept. 15-16. Her talk in Philadelphia is titled "Smart Shooting to Impact the Game."
She is one of only three women coaches – joining Monique Boykins of Lower Merion High School (Pa.) and Robyn Fralick of Bowling Green State University – who have been asked to speak at the Philadelphia academy session.
Macy recently completed her eighth season at ECU and is the school's all-time winningest coach with 134 victories. She is the only coach in program history to lead the Pirates to 20 or more wins in three-straight seasons after posting consecutive 22-win campaigns from 2012-15 which were complemented by as many Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) appearances.
Â
She has a career record of 248-155 in 13 years as a head coach, which includes two seasons at Pfeiffer (N.C.) and three at Francis Marion (S.C.). Macy has been selected conference coach-of-the-year four times, most recently in 2013 when she was voted the top coach in Conference USA.
