How It Happened:
With the score knotted at five-all in the eighth frame, ECU pushed across a pair of runs without registering a hit to take a 7-5 lead. Andrew Henrickson walked to start the inning before Connor Litton was hit by a pitch. Jeremy Whitehead pushed the runners up 90 feet on a sac bunt before Turner Brown reached on a fielder's choice where Henrickson was called out at the plate. Bryant Packard walked to load the bases with two away before Brady Lloyd drew a bases loaded free pass scoring Litton. The Pirates jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Packard scored on a pair of errors by the Wave, after he lead off the game with a double. In the home half of the first inning, Trevor Jensen tied the game at one-all with a towering home run, his fifth of the year, to left field. But ECU retook the lead in the second on Chandler Jenkins' RBI single through the right side that scored Dwanya Williams-Sutton for a 2-1 lead. Williams-Sutton, who reached base three times, doubled to start the inning and moved to third on Henrickson's sac bunt. Grant Witherspoon tied the game at two-all with an RBI ground out to first that scored Jonathon Artigues from third, who singled to start the frame, moved to second on Chris Holba's failed pickoff and third on a balk. ECU broke the game open with a three-run fourth taking a 5-2 lead. Litton doubled home Williams-Sutton, Brown's sac fly plated Henrickson and Packard's single pushed across Litton. Once again Tulane responded with three runs in the fourth tying the game at five. With the bases loaded and no outs, Jake Agnos came in relief of Holba and struck out Acy Owen for the first out. But a walk to Tyler Heinrichs scored the first run and two batters later, Witherspoon singled in a pair with a shot to left field. After the Pirates took a 7-5 lead in the eighth, they scored two more in the ninth capping the scoring at 9-5.
