ECU Set To Participate In Austin Regional

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU women's golf team will open the 2018 NCAA Austin Regional, Monday May 7, which will be played at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas and hosted by the University of Texas.

The Pirates (115-32-1) earned an at-large bid as the No. 12 seed and are set to open play in the morning from the 10th hole starting at 9:50 a.m. (ET). ECU will be paired with 10th-seed Texas A&M and 11th-seed BYU during first round action. In its 18th year of existence, ECU will make its 12th team appearance in the NCAA Regional round and ninth in the last 11 years (2008-14, 2016, 2018). ECU will use a line-up consisting of sophomore Dorthea Forbrigd, junior Carley Cox, freshman Kathryn Carson, senior Lisa Pettersson and junior Kate Law.

Seventy-two teams and 24 individuals were selected to compete in one of four regional championships, each featuring 18 teams and six individuals, May 7-9, to determine the championships field. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA championships competition and all national championships policies apply.

From regional competition, 24 teams and 12 individuals will advance to the national championships to be played May 18-23 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla. The Golf Channel will televise the final three days of the championship live.

The selection to the 2017-18 Austin Regional marks the 16th-straight season where the Pirates will be represented in the NCAA Regional competition.
