
ECU Pair Aims For National Hardware At NCAA Outdoor Championships

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Seniors Stefano Migliorati and Galissia Cause will attempt to claim the ECU track and field program's first national title this week in Eugene, Ore. as they compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.Â

The Pirates have had at least one athlete qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in seven of the last eight seasons.Â

Coach Kraft's Take: "We are extremely excited about sending multiple kids to nationals. It's exciting to have East Carolina University represented at the highest level of our sport. We are very proud of both Stefano and Galissia for the successful seasons that they have had to this point. Now the goal is to have them advance at this meet."

Migliorati will begin his pursuit in the 800m Wednesday at 9:14 p.m. while Cause is scheduled to throw in the shot put event Thursday at 9:10 p.m. The top eight finishers in each event earn First-Team All-America honors while the next eight are named to the second team.Â

Migliorati recently earned his second consecutive AAC outdoor 800m title as well as setting the school record in the event a couple of weeks ago at the NCAA East Preliminary. His season-best time of 1:48.28 is currently 31st in the nation.

Cause notched a mark of 17.02 meters at the AAC Outdoor Championships to win her first conference title in the event. She enters the national meet ranked 14th among NCAA Division I competitors.
