July 19, 2018 | Women's Track and Field, Track & Field
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Galissia Cause, who just recently completed a decorated career with the ECU track and field program, will participate in the FISU America Games scheduled for July 20-28 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Â
The FISU America Games are a multi-sport event sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). Alternating with the Summer and Winter Universiades, which invite all the countries of the world for the biennial events, the FISU America Games are a regional multi-sport event similar to the Pan-American Games for FISU member-countries of North and South America held in even-numbered years.
Â
All sports except soccer and futsal will be played at the newly-constructed Brazilian Paralympic Center. The Games will have USA Team representation in up to 10 able-body sports and three paralympic sports with 1,200 competing athletes and 20-25 participating countries.Â
Â
Cause, a four-time NCAA regional qualifier, advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the first time in June where she captured 10th place in the discus and earned Second-Team All-America honors – the first such recognition for the program since Avion Jones garnered first-team accolades in 2016. Cause won the discus conference title at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships and is the Pirate school record holder of both the indoor and outdoor shot put events.
