GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The ECU men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been named College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams for the Fall 2018 semester.
Â
The women's team compiled a 3.43 cumulative GPA for the Fall 2018 semester under second-year head coach Matthew Jabs, second-highest mark among all American Athletic Conference teams. The ECU women's squad has been named a Scholar All-America team for 19 consecutive semesters.
Â
The men's team compiled a 3.09 GPA in the fall of 2017, also the second-highest among all American Athletic Conference teams.
"I'm very proud of our continued academic achievements," Jabs said. "Both teams continue to perform, both in the pool and in the classroom, semester after semester. I'm really impressed with our freshman, we traveled a lot this fall, and they stayed right on top of their class work, as a group they were really impressive." Â
Â
The Team Scholar All American Award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented twice annually, once in the fall semester and again in the spring to recognize teams achieving a 3.0 in the semester coinciding with all intercollegiate swimming and diving championships.
Â
More than 700 men's and women's swimming and diving teams representing 430 institutions from across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions were named CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams. For a complete list of Scholar All-America teams click here.

The Pirates will return to action at the Nike Cup Invitational beginning Feb. 8 in Chapel Hill.
