GREENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina head coach Andrew Sapp announced the signing of North Carolina native Eston Lee and Irishman Odhrán Maguire for the Class of 2020 on Friday.

Lee, a product of Four Oaks, N.C. where he attends South Johnson High School, will be freshman on the team next season. Lee was named to the Tarheel Youth Golf Association All-State team as a junior. He finished second at the 2019 NCHSAA 3A East Regional and 21st at the state championships. He has more than a dozen top-10 finishes as an amateur the last two seasons, which included a runner-up finish at the 2018 Tarheel Junior Championship and Coastal Plains Junior Championship.Â
"One of the things we love about Eston is that he loves to compete," Sapp said. "He has gained a lot of tournament experience not only in junior golf but also playing in some amateur events. Â
"Eston committed to us over a year ago and we are looking forward to his arrival to campus in August. His familiarity with ECU and our players will hopefully make his transition to college golf very easy as he competes for a place in the lineup next fall."
Maguire, from Cavan, Ireland, currently attends St. Patrick's College in Maynooth, Ireland and will also be a freshman when he joins the team. He was the HSBC Open Champion in both Ireland and Great Britain and owns eight 16-and-under individual titles. Maguire finished seventh at the 2018 European Championships and currently shares the course record at Slieve Russell Golf Club with 2016 British Open champion Henrik Stenson at 8-under par 64.
"Odhrán is a very talented and hard-working golfer who has had some wonderful tournament experience," Sapp said. "We have been recruiting Odhrán for a long time and are excited for this day to come. He has a great personality and his work ethic will fit in well with his future teammates. Odhrán will make a wonderful Pirate and we are looking forward to coaching him over the next four years."Â
