Women's Soccer Unveils Spring Schedule
February 15, 2019 | Soccer
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU women's soccer team will play six matches during its 2019 spring season, as announced by head coach Jason Hamilton on Friday afternoon.
Â
"The spring is all about developing individuals on our team and less about results," said head coach Jason Hamilton. "These games will give some of the younger players who did not play as much in the fall an opportunity and valuable experience, as well as everyone on the team to focus on areas of their game we want them to improve."
Â
The Pirates will look to build off an outstanding 2018 season that saw them win 10 games for the first time since 2014 and reach the AAC semifinals for the second time in program history. ECU will return 22 players, including second-team All-AAC selection Jayda Hylton-Pelaia and All-Rookie team member Grace Doran.
Â
ECU will challenge itself right off the bat as the Pirates travel to take on 2018 national runner-up North Carolina as well as the defending CAA champion James Madison. Both matches will take place in Chapel Hill on Feb. 23.
Â
"We are excited to be a week and a half away from our first game, and to play such a quality opponent will give us plenty of areas to grow from," Hamilton said.
Â
ECU will travel to Gardner-Webb on March 30th for matches against the Bulldogs and Furman.
Â
The spring schedule comes to a close in April with the Pirates playing at Campbell (April 5) and UNC Wilmington (April 12).
