GREENVILLE, N.C. --- ECU will host its annual Autism Awareness game Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. against Tulsa inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. Coaches will wear Autism Speaks blue puzzle-piece pins, while the Pirates will be wearing custom designed puzzle-piece uniforms.
The ECU Student Government Association will be passing out specially designed Autism T-Shirts to ECU Students. The shirts are available in Dowdy Student Stores.
The Pirates enter the game on a four-game losing streak, while the Golden Hurricane has won two in a row and three of its last four to improve to 5-7 in The American and 15-10 overall.
Junior Seth LeDay posted his fourth double-double of the season Wednesday night with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Memphis. Shawn Williams (14), Jayden Gardner (13), K.J. Davis (10) and Tyler Foster (10) also scored double figures.
Despite the losing streak, the Pirates have received some improve play. Williams is shooting 44.4 percent (8-of-18) beyond the 3-point arc the last four games with Davis scoring double figures in three of the last four games and Foster contributing eight or more points in three of the last four.
Gardner continues to make a push for the league's Freshman-of-the-Year award as the only player in the league to rank among the top 10 in scoring (fifth), rebounding (second) and field goal percentage (ninth). He leads all conference freshmen in scoring with 17.5 points per game.
DaQuan Jeffries leads Tulsa in scoring at 14.0 ppg and rebounding at 5.6 rpg. Martins Igbanu (11.8 ppg) and Sterling Taplin (10.8 ppg) rank second and third on the squad in scoring.
Igbau led six players in double-figures with 16 points as Tulsa pulled away from ECU in the second half for a 72-58 win in Greenville last season, the Golden Hurricane's 18th win in 21 all-time meetings with the Pirates.
