Pirates Extend Swimming Streaks

The ECU men's swimming and diving teams extended its streak of finishing .500 during dual meet competition for 36 consecutive season with a 4-2 record, while the women posted a winning campaign for the 27th straight year after they posted a 4-3 mark.

During the 2018-19 season, ECU swimmers and divers compiled 32 all-time top-10 performances with five swimmers recording NCAA B qualifying marks and four divers qualifying for the Zone B Regional Championships.

Freshman Marek Osina, a two-time American Athletic Conference Swimmer-of-the-Week, set the ECU freshman record in the 200 backstroke and 400 IM, while Eric Hinderup established a new rookie mark in the 100 freestyle.

The Pirates received a total of eight weekly awards from The American.

Diver Mary Warker set the school record on the women's platform.

"Really pleased with the regular season, especially how we ended it," ECU Head Coach Matthew Jabs said. ""We've already accomplished a lot this season, but our biggest meet is still to come."

ECU will compete in the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championships in Indianapolis Feb. 27 – March 2.
