GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Junior Dorthea Forbrigd shot a new career-low 54-hole score of 207 (3-under par) claiming a share of second place at the 2019 Suntrust Florida Gator Invitational Sunday. The two-day event was being held at the par-70, 6,701-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course.

For Forbrigd, it was her second Top 2 finish of the season and fifth Top 20 placement. The Oslo, Norway native has recorded seven career Top 5 finishes and her score of 207 is tied for second in the program annuals with Frida Gustafsson Spang (Minnesota Invitational, Fall 2014). On the final day of competition, she carded a personal-best 65Â (5-under) registering six birdies, one bogey and 11 pars. Forbrigd ranked among the tournament leaders in four stat categories including par-3 scoring (t1st/5-under), total birdies (t4th/11), par-4 scoring (t10th/2-over) and total pars (t15th/36).

The Pirates (49-44), who posted their fourth Top 5 finish of the season, carded rounds of 281, 290 and 281 for a two-day total of 852 (12-over) and earned wins over three Top 50 programs including No. 20 Clemson, No. 42 Penn State and No. 50 UCF. Eighth-ranked and tournament host Florida (838) finishes five shots ahead of No. 24 Miami, Fla. and No. 34 Campbell (843). The Gators set a new tournament record with their two-under par 838. Rounding out the Top 5 were No. 40 Tennessee (846) and the Pirates.

"Dorthea continues to play really good golf for us shooting 5-under and finishing in a three-way tie for second place," ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams said. "Really proud of the whole team this weekend and got great contributions from Kathryn Carson in the first round with her 68. I thought Kate and Grace played very consistent golf this week. It was a great team effort and I'm proud of our fifth place finish and continuing the upward trend of good play this spring, which is really encouraging and we look forward to playing at Briars Creek next week"

Sophomore Kathryn Carson (68-74-73) and senior Kate Law (71-73-71) finished tied for 22nd with a tournament score of 215 (5-over). Junior Grace Yatawara (70-74-72=216) claimed a share of 24th place, while senior Carly Cox (74-73-76=223) finished in a tie for 53rd.

ECU will return to action on Monday, March 19 when it participates in the Briar's Creek Invitational at the Briar's Creek Golf Club in Charleston, S.C.
