CHARLESON, S.C. – Sophomore Kathryn Carson shot an even-par 216 claiming a share of 10th place at the 2019 Briar's Creek Invitational Tuesday. The two-day, 54-hole event was being held at the par-72, 6,101-yard Briar's Creek Golf Club.

For Carson, it was her fourth career Top 10 finish and the second time this spring she carded an even-par tournament score of 216. The Mooresville, N.C. native shot rounds of 72, 73 and 71 and ranked among the tournament leaders in eagles (t1st), total birdies (t7th/11), par-3 scoring (t11th/even) and par-5 scoring (t12th/3-under).

The Pirates (55-54), who are ranked No. 45 by Golfstat, finished 10th after posting rounds of 288, 302 and 296 for a 54-hole score of 886 (22-over) earning wins over No. 27 Illinois and No. 50 Penn State. Twenty-third ranked Michigan State took home the team title with a score of 856 finishing eight strokes ahead of Indiana (864). No. 25 Campbell finished third with a score of 873, while No. 39 Old Dominion and College of Charleston tied for fourth at 877.

Junior Grace Yatawara (68-79-75=222) finished tied for 26th, while junior Dorthea Forbrigd (73-76-75) and senior Carley Cox (75-74-75) posted scores of 224 for a share of 36th place. Rounding out the Pirates roster was senior Kate Law (77-79-81=237) who finished tied for 79th.

ECU will return to action on Friday, March 29 when it participates in the Bryan National Collegiate Classic at the Bryan Park Golf Club in Greensboro, N.C.
