
ECU Continues Outdoor Season At Raleigh Relays

GREENVILLE, N.C. – After a week off from competition, the East Carolina track and field program will make the short trip over the Triangle Friday and Saturday for the Raleigh Relays on the campus of NC State University.

The loaded field includes the host Wolfpack, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Michigan State, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and West Virginia as well as other regional schools.

The Pirates began the outdoor campaign two weeks ago at the Charlotte 49er Classic. Courtney Warner got off to a strong start as she currently ranks third in the American Athletic Conference in the 200m and fifth in the 100m. Anna Bristle holds the top 5,000-meter time (16:51.64) in the league and is third in the NCAA East Region.

The women's 4x400 relay squad also owns the best time among AAC teams, running a 3:41.16 in Charlotte.

In the field events, Sommer Knight sits third in the pole vault while Bria Stith and Kristen Stephens are fourth and fifth in the heptathlon.

On the men's side, Nick Ciaccia broke the school record in the 3,000-meter run at Charlotte, turning in a time of 8:29.30. Josh Spare, Mitchell Martin and Nat Romaine enter the weekend as the top three AAC runners in the 10,000m. Additionally, Hakeem Horton and Evan McCracken are both fourth on the conference performance list in the long jump and shot put.
