Gameday: Pirates Face Wichita State On The Road For First Time

The ECU men's basketball team concludes a two-game, four-day road trip Tuesday, March 5 at 9 p.m. ET against Wichita State. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
The Pirates, which reside in 11th-place in the American Athletic Conference, lost back-to-back games against Houston and Tulsa after earning their first road win of the season Feb. 23 at Tulane. They are coming off a 91-78 loss to the Golden Hurricane Sunday.
Freshman Jayden Gardner, a leading candidate for the league's Freshman-of-the-Year award, leads the Pirates in scoring (16.9 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg) and is the only player in the conference to rank among the Top 10 in both categories. He posted his 10th double-double of the year Sunday against Tulsa with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior Isaac Fleming finished one rebound shy of his third career triple-double Sunday, scoring 20 points, dishing out 10 assists and grabbing nine boards. In the last four games, Fleming has averaged 16.5 ppg, 7.25 rpg and 5.6 assists per game.
Wichita State has won seven of its last nine games to improve to 15-13 overall and 8-8 in The American. The Shockers picked up a road win at SMU Sunday with a 67-55 win over the Mustangs.
Markis McDuffie has led the team by averaging 18.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 35.7 percent beyond the 3-point arc (65-of-182). Samaj Haynes-Jones is also averaging double figures with 12.3 points per game and has made 53 3s this season.
The Shockers posted a 65-49 win over ECU in Greenville earlier this.
After the contest, ECU will return home to close out the regular season Sunday, March 10 against UConn.
