First Day Of ECU Intecollegiate Play Halted Due To Darkness

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The first day of the 2019 ECU Intercollegiate has been halted due to darkness. The second round will resume Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. with the final 18 holes to immediately follow.

The two-day/54-hole event is being played at the par-72, 6,755-yard Brook Valley Country.

In addition to the Pirates, the field includes Campbell, College of Charleston, Delaware, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, James Madison, Navy, Presbyterian, Troy and Western Kentucky.

After opening with a first round 14-over 321, ECU completed its second round with a 7-under 281 before play was stopped with four teams yet to complete round two to finish the day at 14-over 590 (309-281). Junior Patrick Stephenson is 1-over after 36 holes of play, while freshman A.J. Beechler is 3-over and junior Blake Taylor is 4-over.

Western Kentucky (+3) led Campbell (+7) by four strokes at the end of round one followed by James Madison (+11), College of Charleston (+14) and Jacksonville (+15) to round out the Top 5.
Bill Tom Sargent of Western Kentucky was the individual leader at 3-under 69 after one completed round followed by five players at par-72.
