GREENVILLE, N.C. ā Christian Smallwood's RBI single to left field in the bottom of the 12th gave ECU a 4-3 walk-off win over Marist Saturday night at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. With the win, the Pirates improve 11-5 while the Red Foxes fall to 4-7.

With one out in the 12th, Turner Brown collected his third hit of the contest reaching on an infield single which was followed by Lane Hoover's second hit a single through the left side. Smallwood came off the bench and hit a 1-2 offering from Alex Panisini off the left field wall easily scoring Brown for the game-winning run.

Sam Lanier (1-0) picked up the win in relief tossing two scoreless frames with a pair of walks and one strikeout. Starter Tyler Smith was touched for three runs (all earned) on eight hits with a walk and three punch outs. Evan Voliva (2.1 IP, 1 H, 2 Ks) and Alec Burleson (3.0 IP, 1 H, 4 Ks) also tossed scoreless frames out of the bullpen.

Pansini (1-2) took the loss surrendering one run (earned) on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts in four frames. Starter Tony Romanelli gave up two runs (both earned) on eight hits with five walks and a pair of punch outs in seven innings. Erubiel Candelario worked one-third of a frame giving up one run (earned) on one hit.

Tyler Kapuscinski staked Marist to an early 1-0 lead in the opening frame of the game with an RBI single. Reece Armitage doubled to left center and moved to third on Randy Taveras' ground out to short before coming home on Kapuscinski's shot through the left side.

ECU finally got on the board in the fourth inning on Seth Caddell's RBI single knotting the game at one-all. With two away and Spencer Brickhouse on third and Brown on first, Caddell lifted an 0-1 offering from Romanelli to shallow right center easily plating Brickhouse for the tying run.

Marist responded with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth re-taking the lead at 3-1. Taveras' RBI ground out scored Niko Amory from third and Kapuscinski's RBI single plated Anthony Lazar with two outs on the board.
