The Pirates are just weeks away from participating in the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships in Wichita, Kan. This weekend's meet serves as one final tune up for that important event.
Â
This is our last tune up before the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships in a couple weeks," Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Curt Kraft said. "The goal for this weekend's meet is to come out healthy and have some good performances. We have had a very good season up to this point. Now it's important that we continue to create energy and momentum going into the championship meet. The Duke Invitational is always a very highly competitive meet that brings out the best in everyone."
Â
A small group of individuals competed last weekend at Mount Olive and North Carolina A&T, winning six events between the two meets.
Â
The AAC Outdoor Championships are slated for May 10-12 at Cessna Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University. The women's team will chase its first AAC team title after finishing second to Houston last year.
