Pirates Head To The American Men's Golf Championship

ECU opens play at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship Sunday, April 21, at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club, which is hosting the tournament for the third consecutive season, in Palm Harbor, Fla.
The 54-hole tournament takes place April 21-23 on the par-71 Cooperhead Course, playing 18 holes each day.
The Pirates placed seventh at the conference championship tournament a year ago. Their best championship finish was in 2016 when they claimed fourth-place.
USF has won each of the last four American conference titles.
In addition to the Pirates and Bulls, the championship features all American conference 10 golf-sponsored institutions: UCF, Cincinnati, UConn, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Temple and Wichita State.
ECU's tee times for Sunday's first round begin at 7:30 a.m. The Pirates will be paired with Houston for the first round.
Juniors Blake Taylor and Patrick Stephenson, along with sophomores Tim Bunten and Stephen Carroll as well as freshmen A.J. Beechler and Jack Massei will compete in the tournament.
Stephenson shot 3-over-par at the championship a year ago to finish tied for 11th, Taylor carded an 8-over-par to tie for 24th and Bunten fired a 13-over-par.
Taylor leads the Pirates with a 71.97 strokes per round average followed by Stephenson (72.28), Beechler (72.72), Bunten (74.66) and Carroll (75.13).
