DURHAM, N.C. – In its final meet before the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, the ECU track and field program made the short trek across the state to Durham for the Duke Invitational.

Nick Ciaccia set the school record in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 15:04.12 to take seventh place in a competitive field. Evan McCracken placed third in the shot put, turning in a total of 17.48 meters.

On the women's side, Atlanta Woodall, Courtney Warner, Cedrina Singletary and Mariah Atwater teamed up for first place in the 4x100 relay with a time of 45.47. Singletary and Atwater were also part of the 4x400 relay that ended up in second place, finishing in 3:44.11.

Sommer Knight produced a season-best mark in the pole vault, clearing 4.15 meters to tie for first place with two unattached athletes. Alyssa Sandy also notched a season-best time in the 100-meter hurdles, taking third place with a time of 13.63. Shellbi Chapman also claimed third in the 400-meter hurdles, putting up a time of 1:01.59.

In the 5,000-meter run, Sarah Hamon was second, posting a time of 17:44.15, while Singletary and Warner took second and fourth place respectively in the 200-meter dash with times of 23.99 and 24.41.

The men's and women's teams will take the next two weeks to prepare of the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships scheduled for May 10-12 at Cessna Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University. Â
