
ECU Set To Participate In Auburn Regional

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU women's golf team will open the 2019 NCAA Auburn Regional, Monday May 6, which will be played at the Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika, Alabama and hosted by Auburn University.

The Pirates (70-64) earned an at-large bid as the No. 14 seed and are set to open play in the morning from the first hole starting at 9:50 a.m. (ET). ECU will be paired with 13th-seed Maryland and 15th-seed Denver during first round action. In its 19th year of existence, ECU will make its 13th team appearance in the NCAA Regional round and 10th in the last 12 years (2008-14, 2016, 2018-19). ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams will use a line-up consisting of Dorthea Forbrigd (junior), Carley Cox (senior), Kathryn Carson (sophomore), Siranon Shoomee (junior) and Kate Law (senior).

Seventy-two teams and 24 individuals were selected to compete in one of four regional championships, each featuring 18 teams and six individuals, May 6-8, to determine the championships field. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA championships competition and all national championships policies apply.Â

From regional competition, 24 teams and 12 individuals will advance to the national championships played May 17-22 at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas hosted by the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. The final three days of the championships will be televised live by the Golf Channel.

The selection to the 2018-19 Austin Regional marks the 17th-straight season where the Pirates will be represented in the NCAA Regional competition.
