
Field Set For 2019 Pirate Collegiate Classic

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's golf team is set to host the 2019 Pirate Collegiate Classic in Greenville, N.C. on Sept. 23-24 at the par-72, 6,132-yard Greenville Country Club.

The Pirates (13-1), who have claimed the team title the last three years, are joined in the nine-team field by Cincinnati, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Radford, UAB, UNC Greensboro, William & Mary and Winthrop.

Since the event began in 2000, the Pirates have claimed six titles (2000-02, 2015-17), finished second four times (2003, 2008-10) and third on three occasions (2004, 2011, 2013).

First-year head coach CC Buford will use a line-up consisting of senior Siranon Shoomee, senior Dorthea Forbrigd, junior Kathryn Carson, senior Grace Yatawara and freshman Caroline Hermes.

The Pirates are coming off a second-place finish at the Minnesota Invitational where they posted a 36-hole score of 580 (4-over par). Shoomee carded a career-low finish claiming a share of third posting a score of 138 (6-under par) to lead the team. Forbrigd earned her 12th career Top 10 placement after carding a 1-under par 143 for a share of seventh place.
The two-day, 54-hole event will have 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. on both days. Pirate fans can catch all the live action by logging onto www.Golfstat.com.
