RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – Senior Siranon Shoomee (73-70-74) shot a 1-over par score of 217 at the 18th Annual Lady Puerto Rico Classic leading the East Carolina women's golf team to a 10th place finish. The three-day, 54-hole event was being held at the par-72, 6,149-yard Rio Mar Country Club.

The Pirates (42-39) claimed their second-straight 10th-place finish of the spring after posting a 24-over par 888 (306-292-290) finishing ahead of three Top 50 teams in No. 38 Iowa, No. 46 TCU and No. 48 Maryland. Northwestern claimed the team title after shooting a final round 8-under par (280) vaulting up three spots for an even score of 864. Thirty-second ranked Texas Tech (870) and No. 22 Virginia Tech (871) rounded out the top three.

Shoomee, who registered her sixth career Top 15 placement, finished in 11th and ahead nine Top 100 golfers. Her second round score of 70 (2-under) was tied for her second-lowest round of the year. She finished among the tournament leaders in three statistical categories including par-5 scoring (t7th/4.75), total pars (t9th/37) and par-4 scoring (t17th/4.07).

Fellow senior Dorthea Forbrigd finished one shot behind Shoomee after her 2-over par score of 218 (77-68-73). It was her 21st career Top 15 finish and sixth Top 20 of her senior campaign. Rounding out the Pirates roster were junior Kathryn Carson (79-82-68=229/t53rd), senior Grace Yatawara (77-73-80=230/t56th) and freshman Oda Sofie Kilsti (80-81-75=236/70th).

ECU will return to action on Friday, Feb. 21 when it participates in the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational at the Landing Course (Greensboro, Ga.).
