NEW ORLEANS – On the heels of a home loss to UCF on Thursday, East Carolina jumps right back into action Saturday on the road against Tulane, whom it beat by 19 points in Greenville 14 days ago.

Both teams are coming off one day of prep as Tulane traveled back from Houston on Thursday night following a 75-62 setback to the No. 25 Cougars, its sixth straight loss.

The Pirates have lost six of seven overall with their only win coming against the Green Wave two weeks ago.

Although the Pirates are winless on the road this season (0-7), scoring 66 points and allowing 78 points during those contests, ECU has won six consecutive inside Fogelman Arena at Devlin Fieldhouse, including an 85-81 win last season.

ECU sophomore Jayden Gardner, who had 27 points and 13 rebounds in the first meeting with Tulane this season, stands 22 points shy of 1,000 for his career. He leads The American in scoring with 20.4 points per game and ranks second in rebounds per game at 9.7.

Junior college transfer JJ Miles made seven 3s en route to a career-best 21 points against the Green Wave in Greenville and freshman Tristen Newton added 13. Newton is averaging over 14 points per game the past five contests.

Tulane opened the season by winning its first six home games, but has lost three straight in Fogelman Arena, scoring an average of 53.7 points while giving up 69.

Junior Teshaun Hightower leads Tulane with 15.6 points per game, ranking second in The American behind Gardner. Graduate transfers K.J. Lawson (13.7 ppg) and Christion Thompson (13.7 ppg) are also averaging double figures for the Green Wave.
